Olark Desktop App

Now you can install Olark as an application and answer chats without opening a browser tab!

Desktop Olark can be installed from Chrome or Microsoft Edge and works on both Windows and Mac operating systems. Once installed, you can pin the Olark app to your taskbar or application tray so it's always handy. You can even configure it to launch automatically when you log on to your computer.

Install Desktop Olark via Chrome

Open app.olark.com in a Chrome browser tab.
Click on the download icon on the right side of your address bar

Choose install on the modal that pops up

The Desktop Olark app will install and open automatically. On Windows, you'll see a desktop notification that asks if you'd like to pin Olark to your taskbar. We recommend choosing yes so that the app icon is always available for easy launch.

Install Desktop Olark via Edge

Open app.olark.com in an Edge browser tab
Click on the download icon on the right side of your address bar

Choose install on the modal that pops up

Select your desired settings from the App install modal that appears and click the allow button. We recommend choosing Pin to taskbar, Pin to Start, and Auto-start on device login.

Access and change app settings

Once you've installed Desktop Olark you can make changes by accessing the app menu

If you installed via Chrome, click the vertical kebab menu in the upper right of the app and choose app info > settings

If you installed via Edge, click the horizontal kebab menu in the upper right corner of the app and choose app settings

Recommended Settings

Pin to taskbar or dock

To keep the Olark app icon handy for quick launch, pin the app to your taskbar (Windows) or dock (Mac).

To keep in dock on Mac, single click on the icon in your dock bar and choose Options > Keep in Dock

To pin to the taskbar on Windows, right click on the icon in the taskbar and choose Pin to taskbar

Start on Login

Never forget to open Olark again! Set the desktop app to open automatically when your start and/or log in to your computer. This will launch the application when your computer starts.

To open at login on Mac, single click on the icon in your dock bar and choose Options > Open at Login

To open at login on Windows, access the app's settings via the kebab menu (see Access and Change App Settings above) and enable the start on device login setting.
