Consent for Recording Chat Messages

You may have noticed that Olark uses the following language on our chatbox relating to consent:

“Olark keeps transcripts of our chats. If you would like more information, our Privacy Policy is available here."

Why does Olark do this? We want it to be very clear to our customers and website users that we are recording the transcript of the chat. Please see more information on our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Should I be doing this as well? Although we can’t give you legal advice, we do recommend that you add language to your chat box with a similar messaging.
