Olark does not currently support Turbolinks in Rails 4. Turbolinks is enabled by default, but can be turned off in the Rails 4 settings.

Turbolinks takes over any local link, sends an AJAX request for the content, and replaces the body on your current page with that content.

It is not necessary to use this feature in Rails 4. You can disable it entirely, or replace it with a tool such as Pjax.

For a detailed guide on disabling Turbolinks, check out this tutorial.

There is also a JavaScript library called skel.js works similarly to Turbolinks. While, we don’t support using this with Olark, you may be able to include the Olark embed code in the <head> section of your HTML, above the skel.js plugin.
