How do I chat with my visitors?

Visitors on your site will show up in the buddy list of your instant messaging client. There are countless instant messaging programs that work with Olark including Google Talk and Pidgin on the PC, IMO.im for web browsers and mobile devices, as well as iChat and Adium on the Mac. Any chat program that supports Jabber (XMPP) or Google Talk will work!

Can I initiate chats with my visitors?

Yep! Visitors on your website will show up in your chat program's buddy list. Just click on a visitor and chat with them like you would with any other contact!

What if I'm unavailable to answer chats?

Olark automatically becomes a powerful contact form for collecting leads and relaying messages to your email. When your chat program is set to away, offline, or idle Olark will automatically turn into a contact form or even disappear completely.

How are messages sent with multiple operators?

Any operator that is signed in and has their status set to available will receive messages. The first operator to respond to a visitor message will "lock in" that chat and other operators will automatically be notified.

How many chats can I have at once?

10 Times the number of operators on your plan. With the Gold plan for example, you can interact with a total of 40 visitors on your site simultaneously. That should be more than enough!

How long are your contracts?

Unless you sign up for one of our annual plans, all Olark plans are month to month and you may cancel at any time. Its easy to stop your service at any time.

Are there discounts for annual service?

You bet! We currently offer 10% off 1 year commitments and 30% off on two year commitments. There are no refunds on annual service contracts.

Can I remove Olark's branding on the chat box?

Can I switch plans?

Absolutely! You may upgrade or downgrade plans at any time. When changing plans you'll receive a partial-month upgrade fee when upgrading or a partial-month credit when downgrading.
