Block my own IP from Pidgin?

Hi,

I've been using Olark for a while with Pidgin and it works great.

My only issue is that if I am working on multiple sites at once my own connections start to fill the Buddy List.

I am looking for a way to block my fixed IP from showing up in the Buddy List. Currently I am manually moving my own listings to the Operators panel just so I have a clear division between my connections and genuine visitors to my sites.

Does anyone know how to block or hide a Buddy by IP?

Thanks in advance

Steve

Hey Steve,

You can block the chatbox from displaying to your computer by using Targeted Chat (and hiding it from your own IP address). However, you can't remove your own IP address from showing up in your buddy list. As long as you are not chatting with yourself, you will not be taking up a real visitor's slot in your buddy list. If anyone else tries to start a chat with you, and all of your buddy slots are full of your own IP address, the new visitor will replace you in your current buddy list view.

You can also set a nickname for yourself using Targeted Chat, to more easily distinguish yourself from your site visitors. Hope this helps!
