Users of Google Talk, whether through Gmail or your own domain with Google Apps, can start chatting with visitors in just a few quick steps.
Link your Google Talk account with Olark using the link below and clicking Connect to Gtalk on the operator page. You will receive some buddy requests that willl allow Olark to function.
Follow the on-screen instructions to log in to your Google Account, granting Olark access when asked. This should also work for Google Apps accounts.
Log into Gmail with your usual username and password.
Set your status to available, if not already.
Accept ALL buddy requests.
Once connected, you should now be able to chat with visitors. Make sure you have added the Olark embed code to your website.
If you are using Gmail for Google Apps, you may be required to update your SRV records. Please read our Google SRV records tutorial.
Note: In order for Olark to function properly while connecting via GTalk we require special buddies be added to your Google Talk contacts. It is incredibly important to confirm EVERY buddy request from Olark, otherwise you may appear offline to visitors.
